Snow Fest

This year's annual Snow Fest was a bit unusual. It rained! Yep, it was so warm that it was raining all that morning. Rain in Rexburg, in January, is a rare thing. Rain on top of snow is not a good mix. It makes for some slushy, yucky snow and mud on the patches that don't have snow. But the kids really wanted to go, so we ventured out anyway. Luckily the rain had stopped by the time we headed over to the park. One good thing...the unusual weather kept the crowds down. Way down.

Colby on sled                                                                                                                  Renae & Mairin

The kids all agreed that the sledding hill was their favorite.
The rain had made the hill fast and fun!! We spent most of our time here.

Of course we brought Renae's other half -- Mairin  -- with us.
As I took this picture, it seemed eerily familiar.
Well check out the picture from last Snow Fest ( in 2011) below.
(2012 we had no Snow Fest due to a lack of snow)

Here they are as 8 year olds -- same coats, same sled!
Notice the difference in crowd levels and snow levels.

The kids took a ride on the horse drawn wagon.

Sadie posing with the horses. She is happy to see any and all animals.

Mason was gone on a campout, so he missed most of the event. But he joined us at the very end.

Looks like fun anyway. I noticed that you don't have the Rexburg temperature box on your blog anymore.Just curious to see how cold you are these days.

How cool that the city puts on a snow day. I would have liked someone to provide some hot chocolate for us when we went sledding. I can't believe how much Renae and Mairin look the same, yet so different!
