Eric actually stayed in a little town called Batesville. The company took him sight-seeing and out to dinner on two occasions. The first place they went was Oldenburg, known for its German heritage. Eric was actually quite surprised to find how much the entire area was influenced by the German people.

Another historic building in Oldenburg
Another night they were taken into Cincinnati Ohio, which was about 45 minutes away.
They actually ate on the south side of the river which is in Kentucky.
So they were in 3 different states in about an hour.

They ate at another German restaurant where Eric had his first Schnitzel
A view of downtown Cincinnati from across the river
On the way to the airport on his last day he drove through this covered bridge.
It was one of the highlights of his trip.
Another view...looking through the tunnel. Pretty sweet.
Eric had a great trip. We were able to call or Skype him every night. The kids and I missed him a lot, but we held down the fort successfully. Eric's only regrets for the trip: he wished he had had time to see his brother (who lives only a few hours away) and he wished he had seen a tornado
-- although he came close.
I'll admit, I was jealous that he was out being wined and dined while I stayed home doing dishes,
but it was kind of nice to have some "me time" as well.
