For Labor Day Weekend my sister Rachael and her family came to visit. Yes, the same sister that we had just gone to Bear Lake with a couple weeks previously. When we planned these two events they seemed much farther apart. But we were happy to see them again and had a great time.
On Saturday we did our favorite "Day Trip" to take visitors to -- Mesa Falls & Big Springs -- if you've visited us, you've probably already seen all these sites. But we still enjoy going every time.
First stop: The Ranger Station/Cabin. They have fun exhibits you can touch and interact with.

Next up: was the short hike down to the Upper Mesa Falls. The big falls. We were having misty rain off and on all morning. It was kind of chilly too but not miserable.

On our way back to the car we had to take shelter from the rain on the front porch of the cabin (mentioned earlier). It was POURING. But it ended pretty quick.
Next stop was just a mile down the road to the Lower Mesa Falls. The rain stopped, the sun came out, and we enjoyed a picnic lunch. Then we took the short walk to the look out to the lower falls.
We took some impromptu family portraits.
The fall colors were starting to come out so we had a dazzling background.
And Ismael is a good photographer.

or this could be frameable or at least Christmas card worthy.
Last stop: was Big Springs. After a short 20 minute drive in the car we arrived at this favorite spot of ours.

This is the bridge that the kids love to look over. You can almost always see fish in the water below.
Eric was able to get some cool pictures...the water is SO clear.
We also saw some muskrats or something in the water
There is a great walking path around the pond.
We are still playing with our camera's abilities...
I know it is blurry, but this running shot was fun.
At the end of the trail is this old cabin from the turn of the century.
We got to go inside and learn all about the man who lived there.
This deer foot coat rack is CREEPY...but I think Eric would love something like this in his den.
The tour guide told us that the man had buried his dog in the basement.
The kids thought that was so intriguing and wanted to get a peak. But there was nothing to see.

It was a full day and we were all ready for a relaxing Sunday at home and church.

Monday we went to Rexburg Rapids (our local waterpark) for a few hours and then our cousins headed for home.

It was a great long weekend.
We packed in a lot...but still managed to relax and enjoy being together.

Uh-oh, I think you are ahead of me on blogging now! Can I just say ditto? we have mostly the same readers. :)
Also, I totally love your family pic here. you should use it for something, your clothes are not bad.
I would totally use that picture for christmas cards!
Also, those deer feet are GROSS! I would not hang my coat on that!
