Anniversary Get Away

Eric and I celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary in May. We were fortunate to have good friends and family willing to watch our kids for a night (and 2 days) so we could go for a short get-away.

It was the kids' last day of school, so we sent the kids off to their various school and then headed off for our own little adventure. We haven't done a "get-away" together since our 10 year anniversary, 5 years ago! I was practically giddy with excitement.

You can see the Tetons off in the distance. Such a beautiful sight.

A closer view of the majestic mountain range

Jackson Hole is just over yonder...we only live about an hour and a half away

Our first stop was Jenny Lake in Teton National Park
Isn't that breathtaking!?!

It was only about 40 degrees as we began hiking...so we started out in jackets

It warmed up as the day went on (and as we got hot from hiking)
The views were spectacular the whole way through

As we hiked we saw some interesting wildlife
these furry creatures were all over the place -- right off the trail --
they looked kind of like a large beaver/badger/squirrel thingy
We were told that they were Marmots

A chipmunk is nothing new or special. But I've never seen ones that were so bold!
This one really freaked me out when it ran onto my foot
while we stopped to have a drink and look at the view

We ran into a patch of snow that we had to hike through to get to our final destination
(I told you it was a bit chilly!)

What would an Anniversary Trip be without at least one "couple picture"
Here it is by the lovely waterfall (don't remember the name)

This is the view of the Tetons from the backside
as we headed to our hotel in the Teton Village resort area.
We got a great deal using an obscure online hotel booking site...
I was so nervous that it wouldn't work out and that we would be turned away,
but everything went smoothly and it was a lovely hotel.

We spent the next day exploring, shopping, and eating in the town of Jackson Hole itself.
Of course we had to take the standard tourist picture!

It was a lovely, lovely trip! It was so nice to get away, just the two of us. My hope is that we can find the means (time, money, and babysitters) to do this more than just once every five years :)

That sounds like an awesome little trip! Wish we could all do something like that every year. But then again, even 5 years flies by so quickly. . .

Oh, I and didn't mean that we should all go with you on your anniversary trips, only that each couple should have a trip like that. :) LOL
