For the past 15 months Eric has been a full time student, a nearly full time worker and trying to squeeze in a few moments as a husband and father....but if anything had to get bumped out of the equation it was us. And we weren't complaining. Really. We tried to be independent and do things for ourselves that we would normally ask Eric to do. I just felt too guilty pulling him away from his books with a "honey can you...": take the trash out, fix my computer, change a high up light bulb, fix the printer, trim the trees or bushes, fix the computer, do the dishes, fix the computer, fix this toy, and did I mention fix the computer. It was good for us to practice living without the help of Daddy. One of my proudest moments was when I fixed the printer by myself after researching it online. But we are all happy to have at least a small bit of "Eric time" back.
We always knew there would come a day when the job and school would be in conflict. And we always said that SCHOOL COMES FIRST, after all that is why we moved here. Eric was also having some health problems as a result of the intense stress. But it was still a hard decision to make. But as of last Friday, Eric is no longer working at his job. He didn't really like his job in the first place but it provided a little (very little) income, medical benefits, tuition reimbursement, free parking on campus, etc, etc, etc (there is a long list of etceteras). But the work was getting in the way of his schooling -- missed group meetings, tutoring sessions and just not giving him enough homework time.
So we are adjusting to a whole new life....again. The down side is obvious, but we'll survive. We are trying to look at the bright side. Besides the improvement in his classes and test (which we hope will come) we have managed to fit in some quality time between his homework sessions. We've had the occasional walk together in the morning, or midday trip to the store and its been nice to run an errand alone and leave Eric with a kid or two. It is great just having him around in the evenings for a couple hours before he heads back to study. And the best part is that it is now okay to say, "Honey, can you......"

How nice to have him around a little bit more! There are always trade offs but getting him home for awhile will be great!
How nice for you guys to get to spend some more time together!
Ps. The skeleton cupcakes are made from mini marshmallow heads, good n' plenty torso and arms, ice cream sprinkle ribs, and tic-tac legs.
