The next day we had hoped to do some exploring or sight-seeing. Grandma Cameron had something even better planned. She took us to a Wildlife Safari park. The kids had so much fun riding around in the car and seeing all the exotic animals. It was a huge park and took over an hour to drive through. They had everything from lions and bears to elk and elephants.

After the drive-thru safari, there was also a small zoo and petting zoo for smaller animals. The kids had a blast posing behind the animal cut-outs and I (as any parent would) thought it was so cute!
Sadie was a Little Lamb. Her face is just perfect for this one.

That happened more often then I care to remember on the first week of the trip.
She seemed to settle down by the 2nd week.

The safari and zoo were so neat. Thanks Grandma! But, if truth be told, I think my kids favorite part of their Roseburg stay was the river in Grandma Cameron's backyard. Yep, her backyard ends on the banks of the Umpaqua River. The river was pretty wide and swift but it had a nice shallow, almost tide pool type area near the bank. The kids played for hours (under my watchful eye). They floated sticks, dug in the mud, caught crayfish and just splashed in the cool water. It was heavenly.

I have to share the swim suit mystery.
Sadie was wearing this swimsuit that I loved. It looked more like a sundress than a swimsuit. It came to her mid-thighs -- see here. Somehow...mysteriously... after only a few minutes in the river it became an evening gown, nearly-floor length dress. Look at it in this pictures. Eric claims she stretched it out. I think there was something in the water. Who knows. But it never went back to its original shape. Weird, huh.

We drove the road to Eric's Grandma's house half a dozen times during our stay
and we ALWAYS saw at least one (but usually 5 or 6) deer along the road.

I included this photo because it has her dog Buddy in it.
Buddy was not fond of us -- to say the least. He was very protective of his space and his owner.
But by the end of our stay he didn't growl everytime we entered the room. That's progress!

Looks like a fun Safari park! What a fun stop along the way. My boys swim shirts start to look like Sadie's suit that at the end of the season, but they also like to stretch them out over their knees.
