Just needed to do a "Winter in Rexburg" post before winter is over. It was a fairly mild winter this year, we had some cold temps (really cold temps) like negative 15 degrees, but not a whole lot of snow. Don't get me wrong, we had plenty of snow, but just not like we've seen in some of our years here. It is funny how the newness of snow wears out. My kids didn't make any snowmen this year and they hardly even sledded on our sledding hill.
We got hardly any new snow in February, and our snow pack had nearly all melted. We were seeing grass again . . . then March 1st hits and we get dumped on again. So we are back to winter. Sigh.
But winter isn't all bad, besides being beautiful, here are some fun things Eric and the kids did.
In January, Eric did some river fishing. It was cold and crazy (if you ask me) but he and Colby had a great time. They didn't catch much, but fly fishing has quite the learning curve and Eric is still learning.

In early February, Eric took the kids out Ice Fishing with a friend from work. Basically you drill holes in the ice on a pond or lake and then just hold your pole into the water. The body count: Sadie caught 2, Eric caught 2, Renae caught 9, Colby caught 8. It was catch and release. For Sadie it was catch, name, kiss, and then release. As you can see, the fish were super tiny. But no one cared, they all had a great time.
No pictures of Mason because he didn't join them on either of these adventures. But he was busy having his own adventures. The Scouts camped in snow caves in February (although it was starting to thaw on them) and they did some snow/tent camping in January. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

ya, it's been a weird winter this year. That fish Eric caught in the river looks pretty good sized. cool!
